On Wednesday, 20 May 2026, the Finanční správa České republiky once again used its “Tax Echo” tool to informally notify taxpayers about inconsistencies in fulfilling their tax obligations. This year’s fifth phase focuses on personal income tax returns for 2023 and targets the incorrect application of the spouse tax allowance.
The press release was published on the Financial Administration’s website on 19 May 2026.
The Financial Administration will send out nearly 3,000 personal letters and expects that the subsequent corrections will bring up to CZK 57 million into the public budget.
Previous Tax Echo campaigns focused on pension savings, incorrect application of the spouse tax allowance, and taxation of gambling winnings in personal income tax returns. Altogether, these previous measures brought CZK 68.3 million into the state budget.
