There are just a few days left and we’ll start earning for ourselves. It is until 17 June 2017 that we earn for the government. That date is Tax Freedom Day, i.e. an imaginary limit in the calendar year which divides it into two periods. In the first part of the year, all taxpayers work to cover the government and public institutions’ spending. After Tax Freedom Day, we earn for ourselves and we decide on the money earned at our own discretion.
A similar situation as in the Czech Republic is in Germany, Portugal or the Netherlands. The highest amounts to cover government spending are paid by people in Belgium and Luxembourg, the lowest by Bulgarians and Romanians.
