As of 31 October 2017, the VISAPOINT system, which was used by foreigners to make registration for submission of the application for a stay permit (both short- and long-term visas, a long-term or permanent stay) in the Czech Republic, was abandoned. As it was impossible to book a term for a visa/stay application to be granted without a registration at many embassies of the Czech Republic, the system was subject to attacks from middlemen, who deliberately overloaded it. Long waiting times also complicated the situation for local businesses, which intended to employ foreigners.
Starting from 1 November, the application registrations are to be filed at the respective embassy by phone, via email or in person. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic have designed a new way of booking of terms for submission of stay permit applications, which is supposed to be implemented on 1 December 2017.
